Practical Check
A practical homeowner check should start from ground level and focus on visible masonry, the pot, mortar, flashing, and any signs of leaning, cracking, or debris around the roofline.
Inside the home, check for stains, damp, draughts, and signs of dislodged material, but do not access unsafe areas or climb onto the roof yourself. If the chimney is hard to see clearly, that is often a good reason to consider a closer visual inspection, including drone support where appropriate
