Hot weather can have a detrimental effect on your roof
Hot weather can dry roofs out, make materials expand and contract, and weaken sealants and fixings, which can lead to cracks, slipped tiles, loose flashing and leaks.
In flat roofs, heat can often soften bitumen or membrane covers and cause blistering or bubbling and UV exposure can speed up ageing an brittleness

Tiles & Slates can move, split, or become looser after repeated heat cycles.
What heat does

Flashings, sealants, and plastic gutters can stretch, crack or seperate.

On flat roofs, the covering can soften, blister or crack, which raises leak risk.
What you may notice
You might see slipped or cracked tiles, debris in the gutter, blistering on flat roof surfaces or damp patches appearing after the next rain. Heat damage often shows up later, when a storm or downpour exposes weaknesses that the hot spell created.
Why it matters
The biggest risk is that heat rarely causes one dramatic failure straight away; it usually creates small weaknesses that get worse over time. If the roof was already older or poorly ventilated, the hot weather can accelerate wear and increase the chance of water ingress.
