Why We Don't Carry out Repairs - and How We Handle Referrals

When issues are identified during a building inspection, clients often ask what should happen next. Some inspection providers both inspect and carry out repairs, while others introduce third parties.

ThreeWeave provides inspection, data collection, and reporting. We do not carry out repair or remedial works. This separation ensures that inspections are completed before any discussion of contractors or next steps.

This guidance explains how our inspection-first approach works, and how referrals to third-party repairers are handled transparently.

Separation of inspection and repair delivery

Our inspections are completed and documented before any referrals are discussed.

This means that:

  • Inspection findings are based solely on visible evidence

  • Reports are finalised independently of any repair work

  • Observations are not influenced by commercial outcomes

The inspection report stands on its own, regardless of what action a client chooses to take.

Why we don't carry out repairs

By not delivering repairs ourselves, we avoid:

  • Managing works outside our inspection role

  • Holding responsibility for repair outcomes

  • Combining observation with execution

This allows our focus to remain on accurate inspection and clear reporting.

Introducing third-party repaid specialists

Some clients value assistance in identifying appropriate specialists once an inspection is complete.

Where a client requests or agrees, ThreeWeave may:

  • Recommend suitable types of contractor or specialist

  • Introduce one or more independent third-party repairers

  • Share inspection information with those parties, with consent

Any repair work is then arranged directly between the client and the third party. ThreeWeave does not manage, supervise, or deliver the work.

Transparency around referral fees

In some cases, if a client proceeds with repair work introduced by ThreeWeave, we may receive a referral fee or commission from the third-party contractor.

Where this applies:

  • The existence of any referral arrangement is disclosed

  • Clients are under no obligation to use introduced contractors

  • Referral fees do not affect inspection findings or reporting

  • Clients are free to seek alternative quotations

Inspection outcomes are not conditional on referrals being accepted.

Client choice and control

Clients always remain in control of next steps.

They may:

  • Use the inspection report for information only

  • Appoint contractors independently

  • Obtain multiple quotations

  • Decline any introductions offered

Choosing not to proceed with referrals has no impact on the inspection or reporting provided.

Clarity for insurers and third parties

Inspection reports are often shared with insurers, surveyors, architects, or facilities managers.

Our approach ensures that:

  • Reports are observational and evidence-led

  • Any referral arrangements are transparent

  • Inspection findings remain clearly separated from repair delivery

This clarity supports informed decision-making.

What this means in practice

In practical terms:

  • We inspect and report first

  • We do not carry out repairs

  • We may introduce third-party repairers with consent

  • Referral fees, where applicable, are disclosed

  • We do not manage or profit from the repair work itself

This model balances independent inspection with practical support.
